The Sacramento-based electrical and telecom engineering, ECOM Engineering, a Vision customer, needed a better way to coordinate project teams and tapped Deltek’s Kona, a cloud-based collaboration and productivity tool to help them.
With over 700 current projects and 26 people in the company, it is challenging for ECOM to manage different projects and teams that are often using email and the firm’s existing software solutions to collaborate on ongoing projects. Like many small-to-medium size businesses (SMBs), different groups have distinct focus areas. While these groups work on specific tasks for projects, it’s important that all team members have visibility into each other’s tasks and progress. ECOM tried platforms like Basecamp to better collaborate together on key projects, but didn’t see any improvement in keeping everyone on the same page.
After exploring a variety of options, ECOM learned about Kona: Deltek’s cloud-based, social collaboration platform designed with people and conversations in mind. Rather than just focusing on tasks and professional project managers, Kona enabled ECOM to get things done across different situations, projects and “spaces.”
