Vision Tips & Tricks – Part 3 – Exporting a list to excel

The Vision Tips & Tricks session is typically one of the most attended sessions at Insight. It is attended by beginners, intermediates, and experts who are all looking for easy to remember nuggets of information to unlock the power of Vision.  By overwhelming request, I will share some of the tips that I covered in my session.

Exporting a list to excel:

This behavior was added in version 6. Most grids in Vision will display a little drop down icon to the right of the grid title. Use this dropdown to export the data to excel for additional analysis. You can also print from the same option. The info center list view grids also include an enable grouping option which will allow you to view the data in a hierarchical view.

You can drag and drop a column header to change the order of the columns.

Smart pins were added in Vision 7. They work similar to the freeze panes behavior in excel. Select the pin to lock the column into place so that you don’t lose sight of it as you scroll to the right.
